DEVELOPMENT
OF THE NEW GDV DEVICES
Based
on the results of the experimental research it was developed
a set of devices for study of the GDV parameters of the liquid.
Some of them were implemented into research practice, other
are under development in 2000. Herewith we enclose shot description
of the devices.
GDV
MATERIAL TESTING KIT
This
Kit contains a set of devices for testing different materials:
water and liquids, leafs, seeds, stones, etc. Herewith we
offer main ideas of its applications.
GDV
Material Testing kit include:
Syringe device
Cup device;
3 special electrode;
Glass GDV Electrode;
GDV device for measuring solid-state subjects.
Water
and Liquids
There
are several installations for testing water, included in this
Kit. They are designed for different liquids.
Syringe
device (fig.5.1, fig.details)
Set
Up
1) Place Cover 1 at the GDV lens.
2) Screw metal part 3 into the part 2.
3) Insert syringe 4 into part 3 fully till stop.
4) Put circle plate 5 at the GDV window.
5) Place parts 2-4 at the cover
6) By rotating part 3 in the holder 2 adjust the height position
where syringe's nose would be standing at the plate 5 and
syringe would be totally inside the part 3.
7) Guard the position by screw .
8) Connect the wire 7 to the grounding plug of the GDV camera
- Installation is ready for operation!
Installation may be provided by KTI in ready - for - use position
Operation
1)
Take off the syringe from part 3.
2) Fill the syringe with water to the top.
3) By slightly moving the pump make a meniscus of water at
the syringe's nose. Meniscus should not be big - it should
not be a hanging drop.
4) Carefully insert syringe into the part 3 to the end.
5) Cover device with a cap to prevent extra light.
6) Make necessary snaps and check that water is not dropped
down. Recommended Code of Measurements is given below.
-
Glass GDV Electrode
1)
Position the Glass Electrode 13 in the middle of the GDV
lens.
2) Drop down the measured drop of water at the centre of
Glass 13.
3) Place Cover 1 at the GDV lens.
4) Place parts 14, 15 (or 12) at the Cover 1.
5) Connect wire 16 with the grounding plug of the GDV Camera.
6) Make necessary snaps.
-
Cup device
This
device is designed to study water stored in a close cup
without contact of a liquid with discharge area. Instead
of cups may be studied closed glass ampoules with liquids
of the proper size.
Set-up
1) Place the metal holder at the Cover 1, placed at the
GDV lens.
2) Insert plastic cup into the holder till it touches
the lens firmly.
3) Tube should be firmly positioned in the holder with
metal plates of the holder touching the tube.
4) Connect the wire to the plug of GDV.
Operation
1) Fill in the tube with water to the level above holder.
2) Cover cup with a plastic cover.
3) Make GDV snaps.
-
Cup device with inside electrode
1)
After positioning cup in the holder fill in the water and
put on the cup the holder 12.
2) Connect the wire with GDV grounding plug.
3) Make GDV snaps.

Measuring other objects
You
can test practically any subject that feats to the GDV lens:
leaves, corns, minerals, etc. The common procedure is as
follows:
1) Cover the GDV lens with plastic.
2) Put the sample at the GDV lens.
3) Cover the subject with plastic.
4) Attach one of the special electrodes or standing legs
13 above the plastic. In all cases electrode should touch
the object above the plastic.
5) Connect wire to the grounding plug of the GDV camera
6) Make the measurements.
