The Non living World

General:

• Electrophysiological studies showed corona emanation does not relate to skin temperature, galvanic skin response , vasoconstrictions or dilations, or to perspiration.

• In general each person has his own unique patterning.

• Each different part of the body is generally a distinctive color: heart regions, blue; forearm, greenish blue; thigh, olive.

• Kirlian method can be used in ecology for early diagnosis of poisons in fish.  Photos of scales from poisoned fish showed clear difference compared to control fish. Could be very helpful advance warning for poisoned lakes and rivers.

The Plant World:

• English researchers D.R. Milner and E.F. Smart, experimenting with DC high voltage photography, found there is energy transfer interaction between a freshly picked leaf and a dying leaf picked twenty four hours earlier.

• Plant leaves, when gashed or damaged, show red areas and bubbles.

• Pricking your finger near a plant makes the leaves glow fifty percent brighter. (A finding by soviet scientists)

• Holding one's hand near a plant and suggesting that the hand is warm caused the plant leaves to increase in luminescence. Suggesting that the hand is cold caused a decrease in luminescence of the leaves. (A finding by soviet scientists)

• Dew forms on the leaves of plants in exactly the same locations as the maximum flare patterns shown in the Kirlian pictures of the leaves.

• Kirlian photography was found useful in studying ways of preserving fruit and vegetables.

• Plants with cancer have a very high rate of metabolism, and photograph with much more vivid coronas than healthy ones.

• Male plant stamens always photograph in blue, while the female ovary photographs in gold.

• The viability of seeds can distinguished by the size of the corona. Fertile seeds show much larger coronas than dead seeds. The photography process does no harm to the seeds ability to grow.

• Root tips as they sprout from the seed coat show as brilliant red-pink instead of the seed coat blue. As the roots grow the red-pink stays at the tip, visually indicating where the most active growth is taking place.

• Leaves photographed under the anesthesia of chloroform look very different from control leaves. The bubbles which usually show up inside the leaf show up outside the leaf.

• The use of chloroform on plants increases the chance of capturing the "phantom leaf affect". This is where ten percent or less of the leaf is cut away and a "ghost" image of the missing part shows up on film.

Consciousness, Emotions, and Drugs;

• Dr. Moss has developed consistent auric patterns that correlate fingertip coronas with emotional states. Healthy subjects exhibit a blue-white corona with a deep blue band-from one sixteenth to more than on-quarter of an inch wide-just beyond the boundary of the fingertip. States of relaxation also lend themselves to a blue-white corona. However, in states of arousal, tension, anxiety, or emotional excitement, a red blotch consistently appears superimposed on the fingerprint and may dissolve the coronal boundary somewhat.

• Altered states of consciousness can be made visible in Kirlian photos.

• Studies of different states of consciousness through drugs (alcohol and marijuana): Intoxication with either produces general increase in brightness and size of corona. One subject who worked his way up to his seventeenth drink went from a small close knit emanation to a "rosy glow" eventually to being "all lit up."

• Hypnosis showed a similar pattern as above, though results are inconsistent.

• If a person trained in biofeedback or autosuggestion suggests to himself that his hand is getting warmer, there are specific structural changes in the luminescence observed only during the autosuggestion of warmth.

• If the trained person touches another person not trained in autosuggestion and the untrained person is photographed, he too shows the same structure of luminescence as the trained person.

• Some people are able to withhold their corona at will by tensing the muscles of their body.

• Some people are able to consciously affect even the shape of their corona. Below are pictures of Uri Geller's finger pads. In this experiment the experimenter (J. L. Hickman) and the observers chose arbitrary geometric figures for the subject - a circle, a triangle, and a straight line. The experimenter guided the subject's right forefinger tip to the film surface, while feeling carefully for any foreign material which might influence the image. One or two control exposures were taken (top of pictures). The experimenter moved the subject's fingertip to another portion of the film, again feeling for foreign material, and kept his hands near the subject's hands to detect any movement. The experimenter, subject and observers concentrated on the target image and, on the subject's command, one of the observers activated the camera.

Medical Diagnosis:

• Research headed by Dr. Thelma Moss showed that cancerous tissue was easily distinguished from healthy tissue by Kirlian photography. In one experiment one hundred healthy rats were distinguished from 100 rats who had cancerous tissues injected in their tails by the dramatic difference in corona emanation from their tails.

• Detailed analysis of Kirlian pictures of various types of cancer tissue as an aid in diagnosis: Compared to normal tissue, cancer tissue from the stomach showed a micro diffused discharge pattern with fine white or gray granular shadows. Researchers analyze the nature of the discharge channels, their geometry, and energetics to elucidate tumor diagnosis.

• Dr. Loan Dumitrescu used Kirlian photography to screen 6000 Romanian industrial workers for cancer. His method found 47 indications of malignant tumors while conventional tests found 41.

• Sharp flashes of energy occur in stress situations- useful in evaluating gravity of a patient's condition.

• Kirlian diagnosis can be done with a person as a whole or with their cells.

• It can be used for registration of emotional condition; medical diagnosis (especially cancer); monitoring effects of drug treatments on a person; monitoring effects of radiation treatments on a person.

  Alternative Healing:

• Moss and Johnson studied three people who claim healing powers.  The healers at rest had a very wide corona, but while healing a much smaller one. The patients had a small corona before healing and a larger one after healing.

• Colored light on skin seems to affect corona as seen in before and after pictures.

• Studying acupuncture with Kirlian photography: Stimulation of certain points on an acupuncture energy channel can cause brighter luminescence at other flare points on the channel.
• A person with a sprained ring finger showed a much larger corona than the finger of the other hand. Treatment with acupuncture brought the two fingers back to a balance of equal-sized coronas.
• Needling a tonification point increased the luminescence of the toes on the right foot, while the sedation point almost extinguished the toes of the left foot.

Human Relations in Kirlian Images:

• Intimate, nonverbal communication patterns between people can be seen visually by the Kirlian process. According to a study undertaken by Dr. Thelma Moss, close male friends who work together generate brighter, more convergent coronas than male strangers placed in similar situations. Furthermore, a strict authority figure will usually produce much smaller corona than the informal, friendly research assistant who replaces him.

• When two people place their fingers on the same film to be photographed. Both images come out clearly, unless they look each other in the eye during the filming. In that case typically one of the fingerpads no longer takes a picture-it becomes blanked out.

• Experiments with intimate couples at the Heuristic Institute showed a dramatic range of coronal responses. The fingertips of both man and woman were photographed simultaneously as each member of the pair bond was instructed to think either unpleasant or loving thoughts toward one another or engage in a kiss. During the unpleasant thought phase, the coronal patterns did not merge. When the subjects entered the pleasant and loving thought phase or kissed, the auras seemed to blend and converge in a state of mutual attraction The clear fingertip boundaries consistently dissolved until it was difficult to distinguish one fingerprint from another.

The Non living World:
 

In this Kirlian photo of a magnet, the discharge channels forming the corona clearly repel one another while at the same time crossing at approximately ninety degree angles. Both electrical and magnetic field effects are shown.

• Electrophotography can be used to study the properties of materials. Impurities and minute cracks below the surface of metals can be detected.
