The Lucidity Institute, Inc. was founded in 1987 by lucid dreaming researcher Dr. Stephen LaBerge to support research on lucid dreams and to help people learn to use them to enhance their lives. Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that one is dreaming and allows people to consciously guide the direction of their dreams.

The Lucidity Institute's primary mission is to advance research on the nature and potentials of consciousness and to apply the results of this research to the enhancement of human health and well-being.

Lucidity Institute members explore the world of lucid dreaming by participating in experiments described in the Lucidity Institute's newsletter, NightLight, which features, in addition, a wide-ranging variety of articles including discussions of research and new developments in consciousness.
